We began the State of the Art in Food research
by asking a few seemingly simple
questions:
• What will the food industry of the
future look like?
• What key developments will determine
the policies of retailers and manufacturers in the
coming years?
• What role will consumers play in
determining the strategies of retailers and manufacturers?
• What types of stores will succeed and
which will fail?
The answers that emerged during the course of
our study proved to be anything but simple. In fact,
one thing is absolutely certain: The food business will become
increasingly complex in the coming years. But by
understanding the changes and challenges that lie
ahead, retailers and manufacturers can successfully navigate those
complexities and position themselves to be winners in
tomorrow’s food
industry.
